Pointilism

This is the oldest project on my portfolio.

I learned how to use the eye dropper tool, the brush tool, add layers, paint bucket, and undo in this project. The project's purpose was to create a new photo by putting dots over the original image, then filling the background in with a paint bucket. This photo is actually from my first attempt, where I did not follow the directions correctly, rather than the final project. However, I enjoyed this product better. In this attempt, I only used the eye-dropper tool, the brush tool, and undo.

Eye Dropper Tool:
This tool was fairly simple to learn. It is located on the sidebar, but it is much easier to use the short cut by clicking "I" on the keyboard. You then click on the color in the photo you want to use. It "picks up" the color so you can add that color back to the photo using the brush tool.

The Brush Tool:
This was another easy tool to learn. It is also located on the sidebar and has a keyboard shortcut ("b"). I used a soft brush. Using the colors I got from the eyedropper, I added dots over the original photo to the new layer. I used the buttons "[" and "]" to make the brush bigger and smaller. I used bigger brushes for the background, and smaller brushes for my hair, facial features, and shirt.

Undo:
To undo you click Ctr Alt Z. This was extremely helpful information to know as mistakes and experimentations often occur in Photoshop.

I liked this product because I felt it had a dream/fantasy quality to it. It looked interesting and fun.
