The purpose of this project was to create a cartoon face by distorting my image and adding various hues. It was one of my favorite projects, because it was so quirky and silly.
I learned how to use the crop tool. This was easy as I have cropped images in other programs before.
I learned how to use the magnetic lasso. I had to redo it a couple of times, because my hands are not steady. It kept going too far away from my body, or cutting into my body. At the time, I did not realize the lasso tool existed. The lasso's purpose was to fix these mistakes. This tool came with many obstacles; though once I got through those, it became one of my favorite tools. I used the shortcut "L," however there are multiple types of lassos. The shortcut brought me to a different lasso. So I would outline what I wanted, but then the part I lassoed would just disappear. I eventually figured it out and went to the correct tool. After that I used the add to selection and subtract from the selection so it properly outlined my body.
I learned how to do layer via copy.
I learned how to use the forward warp tool. This didn't come with any obstacles, but I still don't feel like I raised my eyebrows to a noticeable difference. However, it was also thinning my eyebrows as I raised hem. I didn't want to keep raising them and have no eyebrows. I also used this tool on the collar on my shirt and my right cheek. I used so much of this tool on the right cheek, it looks like I took a chunk of it out. I thought that was pretty awesome.
The bloat tool is another tool I learned how to use. I used that on my eyes, hair, and lips.
Lastly, I used the pucker tool. This one was a little bit harder to tell how it changed the photo. However, I did use it on my nose and teeth.
I used the magic tool wand. This tool was extremely helpful and is similar to the magnetic lasso. I also used the lasso tool during this step as well, but with much fewer obstacles than before.
I then changed the hue, saturation, and light on various parts of my face and hair.
Overall I really enjoyed this project. This was the first time I felt like I made a dramatic change in Photoshop.
